Put me in coach, I’m ready to bunt?

In a sacrifice bunt, the batter puts the ball into play with the intention of advancing a base runner, in exchange for the batter being thrown out. The sacrifice bunt is most often used to advance a runner from first to second base, although the runner may also be advanced from second to third base, or from third to home. The sacrifice bunt is most often used in close, low-scoring games, and it is usually performed by weaker hitters, especially by pitchers in games played in National League parks. – Wikipedia.com

Now you may be wondering why I am defining a sacrifice bunt for you. Well not only is the start of Americas pass time coming up. I have realized that this is what I need to do!

For quite some time now I have been wondering what I need to be doing with my faith. Well through some crazy iPod suffleage and because I am too lazy to clean out the songs that are on it more then one time, I heard two songs today and one of them twice. The songs are both Jeremy Camp songs, My Desire, and Empty Me. Both of these songs are about giving everything up to God and wanting to be used by him.

Now I am getting to this bunting stuff. On my drive home this evening I happened to be tuned into 93.3 FM, and heard a guy talking (sorry I didn’t catch his name) about how we all need to get out there and throw down some bunts to advance others in there faith as well as ourselves.

Now you maybe wondering why it helps ourselves out when we “bunt” to advance others well its simple… it helps out the team as a whole. Who is the team? Every one of us! Each, and every one of us who has given our life and accepted that Christ is our savior. We are all a team. The more we “bunt” the more we grow. We grow not just in numbers, we grow in our own faith by giving up things we are comfortable with (that’s the bunt) and putting our faith in God that we will get what we really need no matter what. (to bring it back to baseball, instead of getting what we need you can be the star next time.

So I encourage all of you to listen to “Put Me in Coach” and get ready to make some sacrifices.
